Jacksonville Jaguars on the Rise

Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson after a Touchdown

When you think of the top NFL wide receivers, you probably think of Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, or Odell Beckham Jr. I think Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns should be added to that list. What they are doing down in Jacksonville is amazing.

This year, Allen Robinson has 1,084 yards on 66 receptions and 12 touchdowns in 14 games. He is tied for first for touchdowns and is 8th in yards. He also is atop the NFL with receptions, more than twenty yards. Allen is quietly becoming a top NFL receiver, and he is only twenty- two years old. His potential is vast, and his development is happening quicker than his peers. In my opinion, he’s the most underrated receiver in the NFL right now.

He is six foot three, and weighs two-hundred and ten pounds. He was picked with the 61st overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2014 NFL draft. Randy Moss was his idol growing up, when he was on the Dan Patrick Show. He said, “By living in Detroit, I was able to go see them play at least once a year when they came to the Silver Dome.” In fact, he just joined Randy Moss as the youngest receiver to register 1000 plus receiving yards and 9 touchdowns in twelve games. He is a monster, and the thing is he will continue to wreak havoc on defenses for years to come.

Allen Hurns is Robinson’s partner in crime down in Florida. He has 863 yards on 51 receptions and 8 touchdowns in the 12 games he’s played. This year, he had a touchdown streak that lasted 7 games. Like A-Rob, he is a young wide receiver whose potential is great. Allen Hurns really is a surprise this year; most fantasy football experts couldn’t have predicted him to be this good. He really has fed off the doubters and has been a great target for young quarterback Blake Bortles. He is very underrated, and next year will be his breakout season. My prediction is he will cross 1500 yards and have 13 touchdowns. He is a beast and will continue to do so for years to come.

Allen Hurns grew up in Miami Florida — he spent his entire life there. He chose the University of Miami, Florida, for his college and stayed there until he was a senior. Going undrafted, expectations were not high for the young receiver. Jacksonville signed him; they liked what they saw. In his first game, he was amazing. He caught 4 passes for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ever since then he has been slowly on the rise. He will continue to dominate in this league and draw more attention.

These receivers are the future of the NFL. They are young but developing more quickly than most of the receivers in this league. I love their work ethic, the hands, and the passion for the game that these guys have. I know for sure they will continue to work and show everyone why they are the next dynamic duo. I say you need to keep an eye on them and watch how they grow into the top receivers in the NFL.
